Physical Activity
Medicine that doesn’t come in a pill. Regular movement is one of the most powerful interventions available for preventing and reversing chronic disease.
What We Mean by Physical Activity
Physical activity does not mean running a marathon or joining an expensive gym. It means consistent, purposeful movement that is appropriate for your body, your abilities, and your stage of life.
This includes structured exercise — walking, swimming, cycling, strength training — as well as lifestyle activity: taking the stairs, walking instead of driving short distances, gardening, and simply standing more throughout the day.
The World Health Organization recommends 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity per week for adults — that is just over 20 minutes per day. Small, consistent actions compound into transformative health outcomes.
What the Research Shows
Sedentary lifestyle is the 4th leading risk factor for global mortality (WHO)
reduction in risk of heart disease associated with regular moderate physical activity
Regular physical activity reduces the risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, several cancers, depression, anxiety, and early death from all causes.

Exercise Within Your Budget
You do not need a gym membership. We teach you how to build a complete movement practice at home, in your neighborhood, and within your financial reality.
How Physical Activity Connects to the Other Pillars
- Sleep: Physical exertion drives deeper, more restorative sleep — the body needs recovery from activity
- Stress: Exercise is one of the most effective stress-reduction tools available — it metabolizes stress hormones and releases endorphins
- Social Connection: Group walks, fitness classes, and outdoor activity build community and combat isolation
- Nutrition: Regular activity improves insulin sensitivity and changes how the body processes food
- Substances: Active people are less likely to use substances as coping mechanisms — exercise naturally fulfills the same neurological needs
